VINYASA IMMERSION WITH NIKKI VILELLA AND JILLIAN TURECKI Treat yourself to 7 nights of pure bliss as Jillian and Nikki help you to relax and rejuvenate during this week-long vinyasa immersion at Jungle Bay Resort and Spa. Two yoga classes will be offered daily in Jungle Bay's 2,400 foot yoga studio that offers spectacular ocean views. Each morning begins with 2 hours of strong solar flow focusing on energizing pranayama, flowing standing sequences, and core strengthening. The afternoons can be spent as you choose: hiking throughout Dominica's lush tropical forests, mountain biking, sea kayaking, snorkeling in the warm bubbles of Champaign Beach, visiting the Spa du Soleil, relaxing with your feet up at the volcanic stone swimming pool, or taking a siesta in your tropical hardwood cottage perched high above the water. Early evening classes will be lunar flow, focusing on hip-opening, forward bending, restorative postures, and guided meditation. Finish the day listening to the soothing sounds of the rainforest as they help rock you into a sound sleep.Nikki Vilella has been practicing yoga for the past nine years. She teaches at and considers Kula Yoga Project in NYC, her home. You can also find her at other studios in Manhattan and in her home borough of Brooklyn. Nikki teaches a physically rigorous vinyasa class, where students are guided through complex asana sequences that manipulate the physical body in a way that will ultimately free your spirit and your mind. Her goal is to help you find freedom in the most challenging of asanas through a disciplined, intelligently sequenced, alignment based flow that will prepare you both physically and mentally to explore deeper variations later in class. She will show you how to turn a creative and innovative vinyasa sequence into an intimate dance with your breath. She is attracted to the ability yoga has to combine precise physical movement, intelligence, and intention into one sweaty, uplifting experience. She was certified at Laughing Lotus collage of yoga. and names Schuyler Grant and Alison Novie of Kula Yoga amongst her greatest influences. After years of walking on concrete, Jillian Turecki, native Manhattanite started practicing yoga so she could touch her toes. Nine years later she can definitely touch her toes, and is helping others to get deep within their bodies. Jillian has been teaching privately for four years, and has been teaching at Kula Yoga Project for the past three, where she guides students through creative "kula flow" classes which are strongly influenced by her asusara knowledge. She hopes to offer her students solid information as well as the opportunity to nestle deep into the energetics of the practice. THIS 7 NIGHT PACKAGE INCLUDES: Accommodations, 2 yoga classes daily, 2 gourmet mostly vegetarian meals a day, reception/orientation dinner upon arrival, airport transfers, one 30 minute spa treatment, 4 excursions/activities, evening presentations on some nights, as well as government room and sales tax. This package does not include the cost of airfare. Single and double occupancy rates available.

RECONNECT WITH YOUR OWN TRUE NATURE: AN IYENGAR YOGA AND ADVENTURE RETREAT WITH LAUREEN RUECKNER Laureen and her husband, Wolfgang, return to Dominica for the 5th time (3rd time hosting a retreat at Jungle Bay).
They look forward to sharing with others the experience of practicing the sacred art of yoga in a place of such unch
anging
beauty. Daily morning asana classes and several afternoon restorative
classes will leave time to participate in some unforgettable
excursions. (Consider joining Wolf on a breath-taking hike to the
world's largest boiling volcanic lake!). Whether you are discovering
the bounty of the rainforest, or sipping rum punch, overlooking the
pool, take time to get to know the people of Dominica. They seem to
have found some of the answers to life that the rest of us seek.
Laureen
began her practice of yoga in 1969 in the Caribbean! While serving as a
Peace Corps volunteer in St. Lucia, a French Canadian man, Jojo
Jausserin taught her headstand and shoulderstand on the beach. When
they returned to the U.S. two years later, Wolf and Laureen took their
first structured yoga class in the weight room at Brandeis University. Laureen
found her way to the Iyengar method, eventually studying with many of
the senior teachers, including B.K.S. Iyengar, and his daughter, Geeta,
on their visits to the U.S. Under the tutelage of Senior Iyengar
teacher, Patricia Walden, Laureen became certified at the Junior 1
level and continues to study with, and assist, Patricia in Cambridge,
Ma.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of yoga
experience. Non-yoga participants will find much to do and are
certainly welcome. |
