Frequently Asked Questions

Most flights are via Douglas Charles Airport (DOM), located on the north east of the island, which is approximately one hour and 20 minutes drive from Jungle Bay.
Our reservations agents would be happy to assist you in finding the best flight to our ‘Nature Isle’. Please complete the form and we will send you some travel options: Travel Assistance you may also visit Getting to Dominica for more details.
On the Express des Iles website, you can look up the dates for the ferry running from Guadeloupe, Martinique and St. Lucia to Dominica. You cannot reserve the ferry tickets online, however we do work with a handling agent here in Dominica for Express Des Iles, and we would be happy to assist you with making your ferry reservations upon request. Please email us at
Dominica does not require a visa or any other document from Canadian, US, UK, German,  and several other nationals. Only a valid passport and a return ticket is needed to travel to Dominica. For more details visit: Entry Requirements
Roseau, the capital of Dominica, is only 20 minutes drive from Jungle Bay.
Yes! The Jungle Wellness Adventure Package includes your transfer to and from Jungle Bay; be it round trip from the port of entry/exit or other choice destination on island. NOTE: you must purchase a minimum 3 night stay for this to be included.
There are different car rental companies on the island, which extends their services to drop-offs/pickups at the airport or resort. We do not favor any one company. You may reserve a vehicle of your choice, such as an SUV or jeep by providing your credit card details. For more information on car rentals, visit Car Hire and Car Rental in Dominica or email us.
In Dominica the roads are narrow, windy and quite steep in some places. Signage is also limited in places. Driving is on the left hand side. You would need to arrange for a drivers license with a rental car company. We do not advise driving at night if you arrive to the island past dusk as it will be more difficult to get oriented.
Please email us at and we will send you directions on driving to Jungle Bay.
Due to the distance and high price of fuel, taxis from Douglas Charles Airport generally cost approximately $100 US for 1 or 2 persons. From the ferry terminal / port in the town of Roseau the cost is approximately $60 US per way (1-2 persons). Prices are subject to change at any time.
We will send you a copy of the weekly schedule of activities prior to your arrival. You can sign up for the activities and schedule spa appointments on a daily basis as your needs or interests arise so there is no need to do so prior to arrival. Private tours can be arranged as well.
We recommend sneakers or hiking shoes with good grips. Please note that a lot of hikes involve river crossings, therefore it is best to bring 2 pair of sneakers/hiking shoes (so that one pair can get wet) or to bring adventure hiking sandals or water shoes. Heavy duty leather hiking boots may be too hot and difficult to dry after frequent river crossings.
Although some trails such as the short walks near Jungle Bay are self-guided we do highly recommend touring with a guide for other trails. The guides are local and very familiar with the terrain, the flora and fauna and possible danger points. Many of the trails in Dominica are not well marked nor well trodden. Our guides are well trained and highly knowledgeable, and can enhance your hiking experience. If you do decide to head out on your own, we would be happy to give you advice on whether or not a guide is required for each specific trail.
Our Jungle Wellness Adventure Package includes only activities as scheduled. We would be happy to help you arrange a specific tour (please keep in mind custom tours are NOT included in the Jungle Wellness Adventure Package price and may be subject to a premium). Please let us know if there is something you don’t want to miss and we will do our best to set something up for you. Custom tours are subject to availability.
The Boiling Lake hike is indeed extremely challenging but also very rewarding. The drive to the trailhead is 45 minutes each way. The hike involves a difficult 3 to 3.5 hour trek over Dominica’s challenging mountain terrain to the 2nd largest boiling lake in the world, located within the eastern Caribbean’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a 3 to 3.5 hour hike back. Along the way, you will encounter mountains, rainforests, streams, hot springs and the moon-like Valley of Desolation with bubbling therapeutic mud. Including the drive your Boiling Lake excursion will take approximately 10 hours. We recommend this tour for people in good to excellent physical condition with prior hiking experience
Our Jungle Bay infinity swimming pool and Ocean Cabana deck allows for swimming and relaxation. We offer several tours with opportunities to swim in the Caribbean Sea or local waterfalls. See our weekly activity schedule or ask us for details.
Dress at Jungle Bay's Restaurant is island casual. Ladies will not want to wear high heels as the trails are a bit uneven, and everyone generally keeps to comfortable clothing. We have great ambiance in the dining room in the evening but we are in the forest so no need to dress up too much.
Complimentary Internet access is available for guests to use on their laptop, tablet or phone.
We are on the south west coast of Dominica with a slight breeze, which fortunately keeps our property cool and eliminates the bugs. Repellent is for sale in the gift shop should you wish to use it.

Families with children are welcome at Jungle Bay, however it has to be said that the physical layout and design of Jungle Bay may not be the friendliest environment for children less than 12 years. Our villas have high balconies, the noise level should be kept at a minimum and our pool has no lifeguard. That being said, we encourage families with a sense of adventure to join us at Jungle Bay.

Our full-service Restaurant and bar is located a very short walk from the villas. We offer a range of vegetarian, fresh fish and seafood as well as chicken dishes along with organic local produce to create delicious Caribbean fare.

Operating hours are:

  • Breakfast: 7:00am to 10:00am
  • Lunch: 12:00pm to 2:30pm
  • Dinner: 6:00pm to 9:00pm

Other restaurants are located approximately 20 minutes away in the town of Roseau. There are a few small food kiosks in the nearby villages also but hours and availability of food is not consistent.

The island's annual temperature averages at around 27-30° Celsius / 80-86° Fahrenheit.
The official currency of Dominica is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar, however the US dollar is equally accepted (1 US dollars = 2.6 EC dollars). Credit Cards may be accepted in major town centres such as Portsmouth and Roseau but we recommend carrying Eastern Caribbean dollars or US dollars in small bills while traveling around the island. At Jungle Bay we accept all major credit cards and US or EC cash.
